You have to give us promotions and hikes: Anganwadi workers protest in Udumalpet

The Tamil Nadu Anganwadi Employees and Helpers Association staged a protest near Udumalpet in Tirupur district demanding various demands, including filling up of vacancies and promotions. They then urged the government to fulfil their demands.


Tirupur: The Tamil Nadu Anganwadi Employees and Helpers Association staged a protest at Peddappampatti near Udumalpet in Tirupur district to press for various demands.

Union president Shanthi led the protest in front of the Peddappampatti block child development project office. District Joint Secretary Rani, Union Secretary Leela, Tirupur District Retired School College Teachers Association Secretary Jayaprakash and others were present.



The proposal to make major centres with less than 10 children mini-centres and mini-centres with less than 5 children to the main centre should be dropped. Anganwadi workers are getting very distressed as they are taking charge of an additional 2 or 3 centres. Slogans were raised at the demonstration demanding that it be rectified and the vacant posts be filled up immediately.

Anganwadi helpers who have worked for 10 years should be promoted immediately without any conditions and rs 1205 should be given as per the cylinder bill across Tamil Nadu. The protesters also reiterated their demands, including that the government should pay the electricity bill for the Anganwadi centres and that only five registers of anganwadi helpers be maintained.

Further, in the wake of the spread of fever among children in Tamil Nadu, the welfare of the children in the age group of 2 to 5 years and the welfare of the employees. It was also demanded that a month-long holiday be given to anganwadi centres on the lines of summer holidays for schools and colleges to protect themselves from the impact of summer heat.
