Coimbatore Press Club condemns attack on video journalist attacked while on duty in a stone quarry

The Coimbatore Press Club has urged the Government to take action against those who attacked a video journalist who had gone to collect news and make a film on illegal stone quarrying in Coimbatore.

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Press Club has condemned the incident in which goons attacked a cameraman who had gone to shoot an illegal stone quarry in Coimbatore.

In a statement issued by the Coimbatore Press Club, he said, “News Tamil 24x7, a growing news channel in Tamil Nadu, has Arun Kumar as the Coimbatore district correspondent and Balaji as the cinematographer.

In this situation, reporter Arun Kumar and cinematographer Balaji have gone to Kinathukada for the news regarding the quarrying.

While returning from a stone quarry near Kinathukadavu, a gang of three goons came there and tried to snatch the cameraman Balaji's camera.

Moreover, cinematographer Balaji was abused with inappropriate words and pelted with stones. Balaji, who was injured in the attack by the goons, has been sent to the hospital by an ambulance.

The Coimbatore Press Club strongly condemns the brutal attack on cinematographer Balaji, who shot a stone quarry at the place where he went to cover the news.

At the same time, we urge the police to immediately arrest the persons who hurled hatred against cinematographer Balaji.

The Coimbatore Press Club will accompany cinematographer Balaji for legal action and medical assistance.

The Coimbatore Press Club, which has been demanding appropriate action as per law against the goons who attacked Balaji, has urged to provide adequate security to Balaji.

The Coimbatore Press Club has directed the district police and the district administration to take appropriate action and document the action against those behind the attack on cinematographer Balaji.”
