College student booked for assaulting young woman for refusing to speak to him in Coimbatore

A young woman working in a private firm near Sundarapuram in Coimbatore refused to speak. Sriram, who studied with her in college, attacked her with a knife and fled.


Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, a youth attacked a young woman with a knife near Sundarapuram in Coimbatore district when she refused to speak.

Shanavas hails from Kasthuri Garden in Pillaiyarpuram, Coimbatore. He is survived by his daughter Reshma (20).She has studied in a private college for 2 years and has dropped out of studies and is working in a private travel company in Sundarapuram area.

When she was in college, she allegedly fell in love with Sriram (20), a resident of Kuniyamuthur Vinayagar Street, who was studying in her class. It appears that Reshma had not spoken to Sriram for about 10 months since she dropped out of college.

As usual today, when Reshma was on duty at Sundarapuram travels office, Sriram suddenly came there. He allegedly got into an argument with her and took out the knife he was hiding and cut it in her face.

On hearing her scream, Sriram saw the people and fled from the spot. The Podanur police, who came to know about the incident, rescued the girl and sent her to a nearby private hospital for treatment.

Following this, the police registered a case in connection with the incident. The police are on the lookout for Sriram, a college student who escaped using CCTV camera footage.

It is to be noted that the control room of Podanur police was located 10 metres away from the spot and police personnel were there to regulate traffic.
