Kavitha who had arrived at the Court premises was sitting in the waiting room in the Court premises awaiting the witnesses for the case when suddenly, Kavitha's first husband, Shiva, took out a hidden water bottle but which had acid in it, and threw it on Kavitha.

Kavitha suffered serious injuries on her face and body. Four others, who were also at the Court for the hearing of another case were also injured in the acid attack.
