Vande Bharat Express train service connecting Coimbatore- Chennai to be flagged off on April 8

In this scenario, the introduction of Vande Bharat' is being welcomed by train users and industry representatives.


Coimbatore: 'Vande Bharat' Express train service will be introduced from Coimbatore to Chennai from April 8 according to Southern Railway sources.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Chennai-Coimbatore Vande Bharat Express train from the Chennai Central station on April 8. PM Modi will visit Chennai on April 8 to inaugurate various railway projects.



Vande Bharat, which will run from Coimbatore to Chennai enroute Tirupur, Erode and Salem, and it will cover a distance of 495.28 km in 6 hours and 10 minutes.

Already five trains are operated between Coimbatore to Chennai in the 'point-to-point' category including intercity express and Jan Shatabdi.

Other than this 15 Kerala- bound trains cross Coimbatore junction every day.

In this scenario, the introduction of Vande Bharat' is being welcomed by train users and industry representatives.

Jameel Ahmed, President of Coimbatore District Rail Passengers' Association, said, "I am very happy that the Vande Bharat train service is going to fulfil the travel needs of Coimbatore denizens.

"Similarly air-conditioned train services should be introduced to Madurai and Bengaluru at night, which is a long felt need” he said.



Nandakumar, Director, Kongu Global Forum (KGF), said, "It is a very welcome measure that the Vande Bharat train service has fulfilled the expectations of the city denizens”.

“Most of the people prefer to use the train service rather than the bus service on the Coimbatore-Chennai route. The railway administration should take steps to start night train service from Coimbatore to Bengaluru," he said.

Subramanian, General secretary of Podanur Rail users' association, said, "The launch of Vande Bharat train service between Coimbatore and Chennai is very welcome. Train services from Coimbatore should be increased on various routes," he said.

Vande Bharat, which will run between Coimbatore and Chennai, and it will cover a distance of 495.28 km in 6 hours and 10 minutes on all days of the week except Wednesdays.

The Express train will leave Coimbatore at 6 am and reach Chennai at 12.10 pm. It would depart from Chennai at 2.20 pm and reach Coimbatore at 8.30 pm.on the opposite direction.
