More than 100 workers participated in this demonstration protest headed by the Association Head Ketheeswaran. Slogans and banners were raised during the protest.

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Painting Contractors and Designers held an attention-grabbing protest on behalf of the Coimbatore Smart Painting Contractors and Designers Welfare Association, which stated that Tamil Nadu workers were being affected by the arrival of northern migrant workers.

More than 100 workers participated in this demonstration protest headed by the Association Head Ketheeswaran. Slogans and banners were raised during the protest.

The participants allege that the livelihood of Tamil people is being contaminated by the arrival of migrant workers in large numbers.

This in turn has impacted decreasing the employment opportunities for the natives of this land.

They stated that these migrant workers seek payment below the marginal rate which has influenced in employing them for a lower income.

Therefore, the association demanded the Central Government Offices, State Government Offices and Private Enterprises enact and implement a law to provide 90% employment opportunity to the natives and requested that workers from northern states should be allowed a limited stay.

In addition, they requested the state government to consider the provision of voter rights and family cards to migrant workers in Tamil Nadu.
