Metro rail project to Coimbatore - MP Natarajan welcomes move

"On behalf of the people of Coimbatore, I would like to thank the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for announcing a Rs 9,000 crore metro rail service for Coimbatore in the budget of the state," said MP P R Natarajan.

Coimbatore: MP P R Natarajan has thanked the Chief Minister for allocating funds in the budget for the Coimbatore Metro rail project.

In a statement, he said, “The budget of the Government of Tamil Nadu is full of many welcome features. In particular, it has been announced that a monthly stipend of Rs 1,000 will be given to housewives from the birth anniversary of Perarignar Anna. As a matter of fact, it will be of great help not to expect anyone's hand. This will be a license fee for women.

Similarly, Coimbatore city became a congested city. In view of this, I have been constantly emphasizing the importance of metro rail service since I was elected as a Member of Parliament in Coimbatore in 2009.

In 2013, we summoned Metro rail expert Sreedharan to Coimbatore district to study the feasibility of the metro rail. On the same day, we confirmed that there is a possibility of starting metro rail services in Coimbatore.

But the previous AIADMK government, which was in power for 10 years, put it on hold. Now, in the Budget of the Government of Tamil Nadu, the Metro rail project in Coimbatore will be implemented at a cost of Rs 9,000 crore. It is a matter of great happiness that it has been announced that metro rail line will be constructed in areas including Avinashi Road - Sathyamangalam Road. On behalf of the people of Coimbatore, I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

Similarly, the target is to provide loans of Rs 30,000 crore to women's self-help groups, hostels for Adi Dravidar students in Madurai, Coimbatore, Trichy and The Nilgiris at a cost of Rs 100 crore. Semmozhi Park in Coimbatore at a cost of Rs 172 crore, New SIPCOT Parks in Coimbatore, he said it was a matter of great happiness that the Coimbatore Corporation has announced announcements including free Wi-Fi services in important public places.
