Coimbatore: A 13-feet-long king cobra was safely captured by snake catchers from a roadside in Coimbatore district and released into a dense forest area.

With summer approaching, wild animals from dense forest areas have started flocking to streams and forest boundaries in search of water and food.

In this situation, the farmers of Kodammedu, located near Valaiyar on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border, have seen a 13-feet-long king cobra passing on the way to Chinnampathi Hill village.

They immediately informed the Madukkarai forest department and snake catchers in this regard. Snake catchers Vijesh and Rajesh, who rushed to the spot, fought and rescued the 13-foot king cobra from the side of the road.

Following this, the captured king cobra was released from the dense forest area of Valaiyaru. The discovery of a highly poisonous king cobra near the agricultural estate, which has a habitat in a very dense forest area, has created panic among the farmers.

According to snake catchers, the king cobra is caught only once a year in one or the other area and released in the dense forest.
