Smuggled gold worth Rs.3.38 crore seized by Revenue Intelligence officials at the City Airport

Acting on a tip-off Revenue intelligence officials screened the passengers and seized a total of 6.62 kg of gold concealed in shoes, and jeans pockets, which has a market value of Rs.3.8 crores.


Coimbatore: Revenue intelligence officials seized 6.62 kg of smuggled gold worth about Rs 3.8 crore, from 11 flight passengers who arrived on an Air Arabia flight in the city, and arrested one person in this regard.

Arjun, a native of Kallakurichi, has been arrested in this connection.

According to sources, about 11 passengers who arrived at the city on an Air Arabia flight brought in gold more than the permissible limit of gold hidden in their shoes.

It is to be noted that the seized gold was mostly smuggled in the form of gold chains.
