‘Suyam” an initiative for women is being launched in Coimbatore South assembly constituency today on Women's Day. In the first phase, 25 women will be trained and we have also identified 12 centres in other parts of the city to extend the scheme” Vanathi Srinivasan said.
Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu government failed to address the migrant workers problem at the beginning itself and it turned out to be a “big tragedy” alleged Vanathi Srinivasan.
While briefing reporters after inaugurating ‘Suyam” an initiative for women in which 1000 sewing machines and free training are being extended to womenfolk she said Tamil Nadu BJP Chief Annamalai's bold speech and action are all impressive.
“Annamalai’s comparison of himself with tall leaders like Jayalalithaa and Karunanidhi was an expression of leadership qualities. It would be wrong to twist it and compare it with their personality” Vanathi Srinivasan noted. She said that the People's Service Centre and Balammal Charitable Trust have jointly helped to launch the “Suyam” initiative for the womenfolk.
“Suyam” scheme she said is being launched in Coimbatore South assembly constituency today on Women's Day. In the first phase, 25 women will be trained and we have also identified 12 centres in other parts of the city to extend the scheme” Vanathi Srinivasan said.
Vanathi said that “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a huge difference in the lives of ordinary women. On behalf of the BJP women's wing, we express our gratitude on Women's day for making a difference in the lives of crores of women at the grassroots level”.
“The Prime Minister is bringing about a change in women's leadership by giving them higher responsibilities and various schemes for women's health, economic development, military and science are being launched,” she said.
“The central government is not only actively working towards women's empowerment but also in women-led development” Vanathi noted.
“Earlier on, the Amudham scheme, which provides cow's milk to young children up to the age of two years, the scheme of providing sanitary napkins to young girls every month, and the welfare scheme of conducting medical camps every week were launched” in the Coimbatore South constituency," she said.
“There are also plans to rope in companies to extend training to women and over 250 women have registered directly. The eight-hour training will be conducted in two sessions” she said.
“On International Women's Day, the BJP women's wing is also organizing events in each district to identify 10 women who have done outstanding work in their field and presenting them with awards in the name of Former Union Minister Sushma Swaraj and we have planned to meet lakhs of women in person before the Loksabha polls” Vanathi noted.
While talking about the erratic drinking water supply in the city, she said “the supply is carried out once in 10 days in Coimbatore Corporation limits, the BJP district president is holding discussions with the office bearers to launch agitations to set right the water supply” she said. on how to carry out demonstrations on people's issues in the coming days”.
On the issue of migrant labourers Vanathi said, “ A tense situation has been created due to the sudden departure of migrant workers from the north to their hometowns. Various industries have been finding it difficult to continue their business for the last two days”.
“This is still echoing in various sectors due to the shortage of manpower. This only shows the Tamil Nadu government's failure to handle the issue properly from the very beginning and it has turned out to be one of the biggest tragedies” Vanathi noted.
“Had action been taken against those who spoke against migrant workers then and there, this situation would not have come. However, the BJP will cooperate with the steps being taken at present” she said.
“Although we have not been able to win a big victory in the Lok Sabha elections, we are working as a constructive alliance in the assembly by winning a sizeable number of seats in the assembly elections,” Vanathi said and added.
More MPs should go to Parliament in the next election. It is normal for some people from the party to go out and join another party and this would not weaken the alliance” she said.
“The Chief Minister should not be afraid of the opposition parties. But, he should be afraid of the ministers and his family” Vanathi said.
