'Palli Parvai' app to monitor classroom activities better in Coimbatore government schools

137 people comprising the Principal of Coimbatore District Teacher Training and Education Institute, lecturers, 2 Direct Assistants of the Chief Education Officer, 2 District Program Officers, 25 Assistant Program Officers, 3 School Sub-Inspectors, 8 District Coordinators, Educational District Coordinator, Regional Resource Teachers including 90 instructors participated in the training.


Coimbatore: A new initiative to monitor classroom activities of schools in Coimbatore was launched via a mobile phone application called 'Palli Parvai.' As many as 137 people were trained on Friday.

The Department of School Education has introduced this application as a step to better monitor the classroom activities of government schools as well as to monitor the performance of students. In the first phase, a trial version of this mobile application was introduced in Chennai and Tiruvannamalai districts. It was later expanded into four other districts including Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and Namakkal. Later it was introduced in seven more districts.

Currently, the Palli Parvai application has been introduced in 16 districts including Coimbatore, Nilgiris and Tirupur. A training session for its usage was held on Friday. Chief Education Officers, District Program Officers and other educational officers of all 16 districts took part in this event.

Coimbatore District Education Department officials said, "As the School Education Department is keen to improve the overall quality of student-learning and teaching in the classroom, such initiatives are being planned. Coimbatore district is launching a mobile app called 'Palli Parvai.' The higher authorities can monitor the performance of the students and observe classroom activities through the app itself."

The training session was conducted at the Girls High School on Raja Street in Coimbatore. 137 people comprising the Principal of Coimbatore District Teacher Training and Education Institute, lecturers, 2 Direct Assistants of the Chief Education Officer, 2 District Program Officers, 25 Assistant Program Officers, 3 School Sub-Inspectors, 8 District Coordinators, Educational District Coordinator, Regional Resource Teachers including 90 instructors participated in the event.

A 13-member team from Tiruvannamalai, the district where the app was introduced for the first time trained the participants. After the completion of the training, the participants were directed to download the application and visit the government schools in person to inspect and upload their school's activities on the application.
