Army job scam: Case filed against 5 men from Coimbatore

A case has been registered against Madhu Mohan, his wife Sujatha, Manoj Prabhakar, Ravi and Rajeshwari for allegedly duping 4 young men from Theni of Rs 30.85 lakh in the pretext of getting them jobs in army.


Coimbatore: Coimbatore Police have registered a case against five persons for duping four youths of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of getting them jobs in the Army.

Azhagar Raja (30) hails from Andipatti in Theni district. He was trying to join the army. Manoj Prabhakar from Coimbatore was introduced to Azhagar Raja through his neighbour Damodaran. Five people, including him, have acquaintance of officials in the government department.

"We can talk to them and get you a high position in the army. It will cost some money," they said. Believing this to be true, Azhagar Raja came forward to give them money. He also demanded that three youths from his locality should also get jobs.

Following this, five persons, including Manoj Kumar, had taken the first instalment of Rs 19.50 lakh from the four last year. They have also received up to Rs 30.85 lakh in several phases.

Thereafter, they did not give them jobs in the army and cheated them by not returning the money.

The victims lodged a complaint at Saravanampatti police station. On the basis of the complaint, the police registered a case under sections of criminal breach of trust and cheating and booked them on the pretext of getting them a job in the army.
