Awareness rally taken out to celebrate 'Tamil Official Language Act' Week in the city

The Tamil Nadu government has decided to observe the Official Languages Act Week every year to commemorate the Tamil Official Language Act, 1956, which was enacted on December 27, 1956.


Coimbatore: District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati flagged off the Tamil Official Language Act Week awareness rally in which a large number of school students, Tamil scholars and activists participated. They took a pledge to the effect that we will sign in Tamil, and take pride in being a Tamil and chanted the maxim “Tamizhan endru sollungal thalai nimirnthu nillungal.

The Tamil Nadu government has decided to observe the Official Languages Act Week every year to commemorate the Tamil Official Language Act, 1956, which was enacted on December 27, 1956.



Accordingly, Tamil official language law week is being celebrated in Coimbatore district from today till the 28th of this month.

On the first day today, the Coimbatore District Tamil Development Department organized an awareness rally, which was inaugurated by Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati.



Students of government schools and colleges and Tamil activists took part in the rally and stressed the need to propagate Tamil in all spheres and for official purposes.



The rally which started at the district Collectorate culminated in the Race Course area.



Earlier, cultural programmes were held by the students. The District Collector felicitated the students who participated in the event by presenting commendation certificates.



The Coimbatore District Tamil Development Department has planned to conduct various programmes in connection with the celebration of the week till the 28th of this month.
