Coimbatore: TN Minister of Health and Family Welfare Ma. Subramanian, presided over the Financial Budget Council consultative meeting flagging the requirements of the health sector and the grant allocations for the upcoming schemes for the year 2023- 2024 in the city.
The Managing Director of the National Health Mission, the Project Director and other representatives of the health sector including medical experts from both government and private hospitals and NGOs from across the state were part of the consultative meeting.
A publication of the previous healthcare schemes and the accomplishments under the schemes was released as part of the discussion session.
While addressing the proceedings of the meeting, he said that “this will be an attempt to create a greater change in the sector for the betterment of the public welfare”.
Actions to monitor and treat Cancer, Tuberculosis, Leprosy and Juvenile diabetes and the basic requirements were proposed at the meeting.
The Minister said, "As per the declaration of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to establish 708 new hospitals in Tamil Nadu of which 500 hospitals are nearing completion and soon will be open for public usage. Recruitment of medical faculties for the new hospital will be announced soon”
" Apart from the mentioned recruitment, filling up the 4308 vacancies proposed in the previous council meeting is underway as directed by the Chief Minister and a total o 25,000 appointments including 021 doctors will be appointed soon. In addition to the vacant places, 4000 nurses will be filled up as per the recommendation of the Chief Minister.

Regarding the covid-19 restrictions, the minister said that “the 2% of random screening and mandatory RT-PCR for all international passengers is still active”.
