117 cases settled in Lok Adalat held in Dharapuram

A total of 117 cases of various kinds were heard in the Lok Adalat held at Dharapuram in Tiruppur district and a value of Rs.4.25 crore was settled.


Tiruppur: As many as 117 cases were settled at the People's Court held at Dharapuram in Tiruppur district for Rs 4.25 crore.

As per the orders of the State Legal Services Authority and the District Legal Services Authority, the National People's Special Court was held on behalf of the Dharapuram Taluk Legal Services Committee at the Dharapuram Combined Court premises yesterday.

Dharapuram Additional District Judge S Nagarajan, Circle Law Task Force Chairman and Sub-Judge M Dharmaprabhu, retired Judge Nagaraj, Criminal Court Judge S Babu and Justice Mathivathani Villakamudi presided over the hearings.

Out of these, 117 cases including 24 motor vehicle accident cases, 79 civil cases, 4 cases of jivanamsa, 1 cases of domestic violence, 1 of money suit, 1 of family case and 4 cases of cheque fraud have been settled by the Lok Adalat.

Circle Legal Task Force Judge M Dharmaprabhu handed over the certificates to the beneficiaries for the case which was resolved through the People's Court.

Mohan Raj (45), who was working as a head constable at mulanoor police station, died in a road accident in 2018. His wife Beela Punithavathi filed a case in the Dharapuram district additional sessions court.

After advocate S D Sekar was arguing the case, The New India Insurance Company paid a maximum sum of Rs 95 lakh to Mohan Raju, his wife Beela Punithavathi and daughter and mother on behalf of the insurance company.

The court also congratulated advocates Govi Ilancheliyan and S.T. Sekar for arguing with the insurance company. Advocates Association President Kalaichezhiyan and Secretary M.R. Rajendran and others were present on the occasion.
