Property tax arrears of Rs 1.25 crore: 3 shops sealed in building owned by ex-MP KC Palaniswamy

Former MP from Coimbatore Corporation officials sealed three shops as property tax of Rs 1.25 crore was pending for three shops in Cheran Towers.



Coimbatore: Three shops in a building owned by former MP K C Palaniswami were sealed in Coimbatore due to property tax arrears of around Rs 1.25 crore.

The Coimbatore Corporation is taking serious steps to collect property tax. As a part of this, it is sealing shops in shopping malls that do not pay property tax.

In the meantime, the Coimbatore Corporation has issued notices to shops that have not paid property tax in the recent past.

Coimbatore Corporation officials sealed three shops in Cheran Towers owned by former MP K C Palaniswami as Rs 1.25 crore was pending tax dues.



They have also pasted notices for sealing the sealed shops for not paying property tax earlier. Following this, K C Palaniswami came to know about the incident and got into an argument with the corporation officials.



In the meantime, he said that some shops in the premises have been sold and the tax will be paid by the shop owner himself.

However, the name of the shop owner has not been changed and it is in the name of Cheran Tower.
