Coimbatore: A fire broke out at a Mobile cellphone tower near Madukkarai on Monday, which gutted batteries, wires and other items worth lakhs of rupees.
The Jio Cell Phone Tower is located in the Arivoli nagar area next to Madukkarai. The battery unit at the bottom of the tower is said to have caught fire suddenly.
Shocked, the people of the area informed the fire service department.
The fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the fire.
The fire, which was caused by an electrical leak, spread to the wires at the top of the tower and the whole tower was fully gutted.
