Under the Smart City project in Coimbatore, the tallest video wall in South Asia and a large artificial fountain equipped with coloured lights will soon become operational.
Coimbatore: Under the Smart City Project in Coimbatore, various works are being carried out under the Smart City Project in areas including Ukkadam Periyakulam, Valankulam, Muthannankulam and Race Course.

A huge artificial fountain fitted with coloured lights at a cost of Rs. 40 crore, especially in the Race Course area, and for the first time in South Asia, an LED video wall with a circumference of 8.15 metres and a height of 1.70 metres has been erected to attract the public. In particular, this LED video wall is designed to run on an Android app.

The authorities are also planning to take over the entire control from the Integrated Command and Control Centre set up at R.S. Puram Auditorium. Since the final phase of work is in full swing, the work is expected to be completed in a few days.

Similarly, the construction of the largest artificial fountain in Tamil Nadu will also be completed soon. Test runs for this have been completed during the day and night hours. The artificial fountain fitted with LED coloured lights is set up to pump water to a height of about 40 feet.

Action has been taken by authorities on the orders of the Coimbatore City Municipal Commissioner, M Prathap regarding the linking of music between the fountains. Discussions have also been held with officials of the Electricity Board for this purpose.
