DGP Sylendra Babu, who inspected the Dharapuram city police station, said 250 CCTV cameras have been installed across the city and are being monitored from the Dharapuram police station.
Tirupur: DGP Sylendra Babu arrived at dharapuram town police station in Tirupur district on Thursday.
Tirupur District SP Shashank Sai welcomed him with a bouquet of flowers. DGP Sylendra Babu held discussions with the police. Dharapuram DSP Dhanarasu, Inspector Manikandan, Crime Branch Inspector Anbuselvi, Women's Police Station Inspector Chellam and Traffic Inspector Gnanavel were present.
Following this, he inspected 252 CCTV camera footage installed across Dharapuram town.
Thereafter, he examined the FIR and documents relating to old criminal cases.
Subsequently, he inspected the playground and police quarters in the police station premises and listened to the grievances of the policemen in the police quarters. He then went to the DSP's office and planted a sapling.
He then inspected the DSP's office.
Following this, the cops took a picture with DGP Sylendra Babu.
He later told reporters:
A total of 250 cctv cameras are being monitored at Dharapuram police station. The number plate scan can be done and the culprits can be easily caught. Police personnel are under camera surveillance round the clock. For incidents of theft and human trafficking can be identified instantly, the Tamil Nadu Police is using modern technology to detect criminal activities.
The police control room in Chennai 100, 111, 112, sending the information received for such calls to the local police stations and immediate action is being taken. We have identified 5,500 offenders this year and registered cases through the Base ID system. We've come up with a new app KV track to monitor the activity of the old A, A+ accused.
The 'Police Help' app has been developed to make it easier and quicker for the public to access the police force in times of danger or in an unsafe environment. While an app called Kavalan SOS is already in use, many special features have been updated in the Police Help app.
It comes with 66 features and can be downloaded for free on the Google Play Store. Mainly by pressing the red button on it for women in need of help in case of an emergency, the app has been designed to ensure that the details and location of those seeking help are quickly available to the police control room.
In times of danger, it should be downloaded and used by the public to make it easier to access the police. Youngsters who are adventurous on two-wheelers should be prevented from going on adventure in public places. Therefore, there are separate adventure training centres for them in Tamil Nadu.
The youth can go to those centres and develop their skills and it is a crime to indulge in adventure to disturb the general public"
