These facilities have been created to support extension activities such as training programmes and demonstrations to farmers and floriculture entrepreneurs as well as to support floriculture research and education.
Coimbatore: Various infrastructural facilities created under the NADP Project for TNAU were inaugurated on Republic Day by Dr. V Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) in Coimbatore to augment flower production in Tamil Nadu through elite seed / planting material production and technological interventions.

This was earlier implemented in the Department of Floriculture and Landscaping of the Horticultural College and Research Institute, TNAU during 2020-2022.
The newly-established infrastructural facilities which were inaugurated include a training hall with a seating capacity of 100 members, a Video Conference Hall, a Post-Graduate Laboratory, a Thiruvalluvar statue and a gate adjacent to the Thiruvalluvar statue inside the TNAU Botanical Garden.
These facilities have been established with financial sponsorship from the NADP project. The Thiruvalluvar statue has been sponsored by Rasi Seeds.

Dr. V Geethalakshmi who inaugurated the infrastructural facilities created in the Department of Floriculture and Landscaping which is located inside the University’s 115-year-old Botanical Garden delivered the inaugural and presidential address at the event. The Special Guest at the event was R Rajendran, the Managing Director of Rasi Seeds who also delivered the special address.
The event was organized by the faculty and students of the Department of Floriculture and Landscaping of the Horticultural College and Research Institute, TNAU, Coimbatore under the leadership of the Professor and Head of the Department, Dr. K Rajamani, with the support of the Dean (Horticulture) of the Horticultural College and Research Institute, Dr. P Irene Vethamoni.

A ticketing machine for entry fee collection at the Botanical Garden Entrance was launched in the event to facilitate hassle free entry fee collection and precise documentation, besides enabling reduction in the manpower requirement.
A CAD image of the recently-renovated Botanical Garden which has been conceived and designed by PG Scholars of the Department was released during the event.
Dr. K Rajaman thanked the sponsors, students and public who participated in the event.
