Foster father of minor girl arrested under POCSO Act for raping and threatening the girl

The foster father is reported to have threatened and sexually assaulted the girl while the mother was away at work and also threatened to kill her if she disclosed the rape to anyone. A complaint was lodged with the police by the mother only after she found out that her daughter's ill-health was due to pregnancy.


Coimbatore: Coimbatore Police has arrested a foster father under the POCSO Act on the basis of a complaint that he had threatened and raped his adopted 13-year old daughter.

The minor girl who hails from Coimbatore studies in Class 7 in a school in the area. Her father had passed away six years ago due to ill-health. Her mother who works as a labourer married a 35-year-old man four years ago. The foster father is reported to have threatened and sexually assaulted the girl while the mother was away at work.

He reportedly also threatened to kill her if she disclosed the rape. Out of feaar, the girl reportedly had not told her mother and as a result, the foster father cotinued to sexually harass the girl. It is reported that the minor girl's health had deteriorated lately and the mother took the girl to Coimbatore Government Hospital for treatment. The doctors who examined the girl informed her mother that she was two months pregnant which shocked all.

After discovering the fact that the foster father had continuously threatened and raped her daughter, the mother lodged a complaint with the Perur All-Women Police in this regard. On the basis of the complaint, the foster father of the 13-year-old girl was arrested for raping and impregnating her. He was later booked under the POCSO Act and produced in Court and sent to jail.
