Kumki elephants salute the national flag at the Republic Day function at Theppakadu Elephant Camp

The 74th Republic Day celebrations, which has been organised at Theppakadu Elephant Camp in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve witnessed the participation of Kumki elephants, which saluted the flag.



The Nilgiris: Republic Day function was celebrated at Theppakadu elephant in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve.

There are 28 Kumkis in Theppakadu Elephant Breeding Camp at Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in the Nilgiris District which took part in the celebrations and saluted the national flag.

The Kumkis included Ammukutty, Sankar, Bhama and Krishna were lined up and were draped with flags.



Accepting the guard of honour, given by forest rangers, forest guards, anti-poaching watchers Joint Field director hoisted the national flag.



The elephants that lined up saluted the national flag.

Following this, special food was provided to the elephants.



Large number of tourists witnessed the event.
