Two arrested under POCSO Act for sexually assaulting a minor girl

Two persons were arrested for sexually assaulting a minor girl for over two years and they were arrested under POCSO Act.


Coimbatore: Police have arrested two persons under the POCSO Act for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl

Raj alias Athirshtaraj (27) is a native of Coimbatore and he is living separately from his wife due to marital discord.

Athirshtaraj, who lured a 10-year-old girl from the same locality, sexually assaulted her. He also threatened the girl not to tell anyone about it.

Suresh Babu of Ettimadai, a friend of Athirtharaj, also came to know about it and the two ganged up and threatened the girl and sexually assaulted her repeatedly for over two years.

On the day of the incident, the girl who rushed out of Athirtaraj's house in a crying fit, informed her neighbours about the incident.

The neighbours immediately caught hold of both Athirtharaj and Suresh Babu and handed them over to Coimbatore (East) All-women police station.

During interrogation, the police found out that the two has been raping the girl for the past two years.

The arrested duo were produced in court and remanded in custody.
