Corporation officials remove encroachment in city's Gandhipuram area

Corporation authorities demolished and removed an encroachment by an individual in an area belonging to the Corporation on Gandhipuram 4th Street in Coimbatore.

Coimbatore: Corporation officials removed a building constructed by an individual on Gandhipuram 4th Street, by encroaching on the road.

The Government-owned lands in the areas under Coimbatore Corporation are being reclaimed by the Corporation from encroachers.

At present, the work of removing encroachments in Corporation areas is underway.

Sunil had encroached on public space owned by the Government on Gandhipuram 4th Street in Coimbatore, thus hampering movement of the public. On learning of this, the Assistant Commissioner of Central Zone issued a notice to Sunil urging him to remove the encroachment within three days.

Since Sunil had not removed the encroachment, Corporation officials removed the building which had been built encroaching on public space. As per Section 441 of the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation Act, the authorities will also collect a fine from the encroacher, Sunil.

Corporation officials also warned that they would take appropriate action against persons who encroach on public space to build.
