Over 40 shops were sealed in Valparai Municipality for non-payment of rent

Valparai Municipal Commissioner ordered that 40 shops, including a TASMAC shop be sealed forthwith for non-payment of rent.



Coimbatore: Over 200 shops belonging to Valparai Municipality in Coimbatore district had been rented out.

Accordingly, rent ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 8,000 is being collected from the tenants of the Municipal shops every month.



Even as the municipal administration had hiked the rent for the shops and the shopkeepers were delaying the payment of rent.



As many as 40 shops, which had not paid the shop rent for a long time, were sealed today with police protection.

“As the shop owners did not pay the rent despite repeated notices and the shops had to be sealed” said the Municipal authorities.
