First in TN: 2 Animal welfare liaison officers appointed per police station to address animal abuse and cruelty

The officers were trained by a team of 4 experts from Chennai. The training was conducted in association with non-profit initiative, ‘Dogs of Coimbatore’ - an initiative of Vajra Foundation which has been working on various animal welfare activities in the city.



First time in Tamil Nadu, Coimbatore City police appoints animal welfare liaison officers to address Animal Abuse and Animal Cruelty in Coimbatore City.



Coimbatore City Commissioner V. Balakrishnan IPS has deputed 1 nodal officer and 2 liasioning officer per police station in Coimbatore city as Animal Welfare Liaison Officer and a training program on animal related laws will be imparted to them on 21.01.2023.



This move will help in the monitoring and mitigation of cases of cruelty inflicted on animals in Coimbatore city.
