Coimbatore Corporation sets new record for clean-up drive carried out in six city bus stations, at one go

Coimbatore Municipal Corporation has set a new record in the "Nobel Book of World Records" by undertaking to clean up six bus stands in tie up with college students and organizations.


Coimbatore: To make Tamil Nadu a clean and litter-free state, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu had instructed all Corporations to launch clean up awareness campaigns in their respective jurisdictions.

Accordingly, clean-up drives have been carried out twice a month by the City Corporation.

In the meanwhile, “Clean Touch” which was founded in 2015 with its headquarters in Coimbatore, has been carrying out clean-up work at various locations, including homes and offices and factories.

The company, which has over 200 employees in Chennai, Salem and Coimbatore, has entered the Nobel Book of World Records by setting a new record in Coimbatore to promote Swachh Bharat (Clean India).



As a part of this, Corporation commissioner Prathap, Deputy mayor Vetrichelvan and other councilors launched the cleanliness drive on behalf of the City corporation in association with “Clean touch” to create awareness among the people with the aim of making Coimbatore, a clean city.



Over 600 college students, carried out the clean-up drive in three bus stands in Gandhipuram area of Coimbatore simultaneously, and in the Ukkadam, Singanallur and Saibaba Colony bus stands.



This awareness initiative has entered in the “Nobel Book of World Records”.



Lauding the drive, Aneesh, Managing Director, “Clean Touch”, said, "A clean environment is essential for a disease-free life, and we have come forward to do this feat with the aim of ensuring that the place where thousands of people come and go on a daily basis is kept clean”.

Adjudicator Arvind monitored the achievement jointly set by Hindustan Scout and Guide.

Thyagu Nagaraj, the publisher of the Nobel World Book of World Records, honoured Aneesh, Managing director of Clean Touch, and Reshma Manohar, for setting the record. Certificates and medals were issued to them.

Coimbatore Municipal Commissioner Prathap, on the occasion, has appealed to the general public to come forward to keep the city clean by responsible garbage disposal.
