Over 3,000 women gather on Noyyal river bank to celebrate Pongal, Collector, Mayor participate

Samathuva Pongal festival was held on the banks of Noyyal river in which over 3,000 women from all religions participated. Tirupur Collector and Mayor dressed in traditional attire took part in the celebrations.



Tirupur: Samathuva Pongal festival was held on the banks of Noyyal river near Valarmathi bridge in which over 3000 women cutting across religions took part.



A three-day programme was organized by Tirupur Corporation, Noyyal Panpaattu Amaipu and Jeevanadhi Noyyal Sangam for the first two days, and various Tamil traditional cultural performances were held in the evening.



On the third day today, over 3,000 women, residing in 60 wards of Tirupur Corporation celebrated the Samathuva Pongal, in which Mayor Dinesh Kumar, District Collector Vineeth, Corporation Commissioner Kranthi Kumar Pati, City Police Commissioner Praveen Kumar Abhinav, Sub-Collector Sruthan Jayanarayanan and others participated in the inauguration ceremony.



As part of the Samathuva Pongal folk performances such “Valli Kummiyattam”, “Perunjalangai Attam” and Parai isai and Dance were performed.



A large number of people from Tirupur district participated in the event and celebrated the Samathuva Pongal festival with enthusiasm.
