Over 150 Muslim and Christian women cutting across caste and religion celebrated the 31st Samathuva Pongal celebrations organised by the Thamizhar Peravai in Tirupur.
Tirupur: Even as Pongal festival is being celebrated across the country , a 31st Samathuva Pongal festival was organised on behalf of The Thamizhar Peravai at Velliangadu in Tirupur.
Muslim and Christian women cutting across caste and creed celebrated Samathuva Pongal and offered 150 Pongal pots at the same place.
On this occasion, men and women wore traditional clothes and a "thappattam" cultural programme was also organized on the occasion.
Deputy Mayor Balasubramaniam and a large number of people from the surrounding areas were present on the occasion.
