Burglars loot temple near Kangeyam, decamp with jewellery

According to Police, Nagarajan, who works as a priest in the temple, returned to the temple this morning, to find the hundi broken open and gold chain missing from the idol.



Tirupur: Police are on the lookout for burglars who had stolen two sovereigns of jewellery from the temple idol and looted the temple hundi at Kattupalayam near Kangeyam.

The burglary was committed at Nagathamman temple at Kattupalayam.



According to Police, Nagarajan, who works as a priest in the temple, returned to the temple this morning, to find the hundi broken open and gold chain missing from the idol.



The thieves have also set fire to the pooja items kept by the devotees who were supposed to go to the Ayyappan temple after irumudi ceremony.

Tirupur police arrived at the crime spot and a case has been registered in this regard.

Further investigations are on-going on.
