Special medical camp for farm animals conducted at Pattanam Panchayat to prevent spread of swine and bird flu

The District Animal Husbandry Department has organized a special prevention camp for prevention of African swine flu and bird flu at Nagamma Naickenpalayam in Coimbatore district.


Coimbatore: A special prevention medical camp for farm animals was organised by the District Animal Husbandry Department at Nagamma Naickanpalayam in Pattanam Panchayat in Coimbatore district.

Dr Perumal Samy, Joint Director of Animal Husbandry Department, Dr. Ilango, Deputy Director and Gomathi Selvakumar, President, Pattanam Panchayat, presided over the camp.



In this camp, doctors Irugur Selvarani, Mangaiyarkarasi, Malathi Devi treated the animals. Farm animals including goat, cow, chicken and pet dogs at the camp were treated.



Special camps would be conducted by the Animal Husbandry Department in all parts of Coimbatore district including Annur, Kinathukadavu, Pollachi, Thondamuthur, Vinayagampalayam and Karamadai in January and February months.

Animal Husbandry Department is taking strict precautionary measures to prevent the spread of African swine flu and bird flu in Tamil Nadu as it is reported in the neighbouring state of Kerala.
