Coimbatore: Even as the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi had announced January 16 as the National Startup Day, the Startup India Innovation Week is being celebrated from January 10-16 across the country.
The Technology Business Incubator - Startup India Seed Fund Scheme Centre organized the 'National Startup Day 2023' event at the Technology Business Incubator, Directorate of Agribusiness Development, TNAU in Coimbatore on January 10. The TBI start-ups exhibited their products at TNAU Techno Park 4 and explained about the ventures to the TNAU faculties, students and startups present at the event.

Dr. E Somasundaram, Director, ABD welcomed the gathering in the presence of University Officers, Government officials and over 100 TBI startups. Dr. R C Agrawal, DDG (Agricultural Education), ICAR, New Delhi, in his special address, shared that ICAR is instrumental in supporting the Agribusiness startups in the country with technical, infrastructural and financial aid. He emphasized the importance of imparting business studies in the Agricultural Education curriculum to bring many more agripreneurs in the country to play an important role in incorporating latest agricultural technology in production, post-harvest, applications, marketing and export.

Dr. V Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor, TNAU delivered the Presidential address. She mentioned that the ABIS-Technology Business Incubator serves as a one stop platform for disseminating the Central and State Government support to the Agristartups. The incubator is hand-holding 500 plus startups in Agri and allied sectors for technical guidance, testing, certification, validation, financial support and marketing from their ideation stage. TNAU alumni entrepreneurs are offering mentorship and guidance for the present Agriculture students to enlighten them on the available opportunities in Agribusiness.
