'Manitham' releases field report into the mysterious death of Subashree, demands court-monitored probe

According to a field study conducted by “Manitham” a human rights wing of CPM there was a high possibility that Subashree was murdered even as she had gone to undergo yoga training at the Isha Yoga Center.

Coimbatore: A woman named Subashree, who had gone to the Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore for training, was found dead under mysterious circumstances recently.

“Manitham”, a human rights wing of Communist Party of India (Marxist) conducted a field study into the suspicious death and it has come out with startling facts.

The report of the study was released at the CPM party office in Gandhipuram, Coimbatore today and the report was released by Ramesh, Coordinator of Manitham, and received by CPM politburo member G Ramakrishnan in the presence of MP P.R. Natarajan.

Addressing the press after the release of the field report, CPM Politburo member G. Ramakrishnan said:

“The CPM has been continuously fighting against the various violations of the Isha Yoga Center. The court cases filed against Isha Yoga Centre’s encroachments into elephant corridors is still pending.

According to Ramakrishnan, “when the fact-finding team visited and probed Subashree's death, the police did not give a proper cooperation or explanation. The investigation conducted into the mysterious death was not satisfactory”.

“Moreover, the investigation by the District police will not be enough and the Tamil Nadu government should come forward to set High court-monitored probe into the death of Subhasree” G. Ramakrishnan demanded.

Ramesh, Coordinator of “Manitham” In connection with the mysterious death of Subashree, the report has been prepared by going everywhere for three days. Alleging there is drug movement inside the Isha Centre, he said that mysterious things continue to happen in the Yoga centre.

As to the family circumstance of the deceased woman, Ramesh said “there was no family discord reported and Subashree was unlikely to have committed suicide and there was a high probability that she was murdered. Subashree was rushing out of the centre as if she had feared for her life”.

“Even though the mother and brother of the deceased woman were told that post-mortem would be held later, but it was done with undue hurry and her body was cremated, which raises the needle of suspicious” Ramesh said.

“The actions of the Coimbatore police have been at best a controversial one in this case. The DSP has said that there is no need to tell us about the whole issue” Ramesh said.

“From where did he get the orders to burn Subhasree's body in such a hurry?” Ramesh also demanded to know.

Demanding the transfer of DSP who is investigating the case, he said “Subashree's mysterious death case should be converted into a murder case and investigated. Rajapandi, the DSP who is investigating the case, should be transferred. He should not interfere in this case”.

Ramesh also demanded that Isha Yoga Centre should be sealed and Subashree's family should be given proper relief.

“Manitham will consider going to court as the next step, if the Government doesn’t act fast and do justice to the family of Subashree” Ramesh said.
