Coimbatore Police lookout for man who assaulted a porter with an iron rod for denying him Beedi

Police are on the lookout for an unidentified person who attacked a loader with an iron rod near a vegetable market and fled after he refused to give him a beedi.


Coimbatore: Manikandan (52), a native of Thoothukudi district. He stayed at P.B. Road in Coimbatore and stayed at T.K. Nagar in Town Hall area. He works as a porter in the vegetable market.

In this case, Manikandan was lying near the Thandu Mariamman temple on January 3rd. It is learnt that an unidentified person who came there asked Manikandan for a beedi.

When Manikandan refused, the man attacked Manikandan with an iron rod. Manikandan, who was seriously injured in the incident, was rescued by the locals and sent to Coimbatore government hospital for treatment.

Based on the complaint, Big bazaar police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the unidentified person who attacked the porter.
