Coimbatore: K. Shanmuga Sundaram, Member of Parliament, Pollachi, has written to Secretary

Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises urging to bring about necessary changes in the upcoming PLI 2. scheme meant for the MSME sector.

The MP has noted in his letter " The upcoming PLI 2.0 scheme for investment in Textiles and Garments is detrimental to the interests of MSMEs in Coimbatore and Tirupur region as 90% of MSMEs are unable to invest more than 10 Crores".

"Under the present guidelines, only 10% of the MSMEs will be benefited as the present guidelines are applicable to MSMEs with an investment between 10 Crores to 100 Crores whereas most MSMEs in the region are able to invest only 1 crore to 10 crores, which will negate the level playing field".

"To combat this, all MSMEs with investment over 1 Crore should be included in the new PLI 2.0 scheme with retrospective effect from 01.04.2022" the MP said in his letter and added ." | request you to coordinate with the Ministry of Textiles for the same as to benefit the MSMEs of Coimbatore and Tirupur region from the Textiles Sector".
