All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi stages protest, urges Govt. to introduce total prohibition

The All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi has protested urging the government to impose total prohibition in the state. The cadres threw liquor bottle on the road to drive home their point.



Coimbatore: The All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi led by actor-politician Sarath Kumar has staged protests at various towns and ctiies across Tamil Nadu today demanding a total prohition and and a ban on the sale of drugs.



In the city the protest was staged at Tatabad area in Coimbatore under the leadership of the party's Kongu regional organisation secretary Ubaidur Rahman.



More than 50 cadres of AISMK raised slogans and held aloft placards demanding to impose total prohibition and banning of drugs.



They also threw liquor bottles on the road and pressed for their demands.



District secretaries Ramakrishnan, Muthupandian, Nehruji, Aladi Anand, Murali Krishnan and Surendran took the lead.

Speaking to reporters after the protest, Rahman said, "In Tamil Nadu, many people, including youth and students, have become addicted to alcohol. The Tamil Nadu government should immediately implement total prohibition.

He also flagged the issue of hike in electricity tariff and property tax in Coimbatore Corporation after the DMK came to power. Similarly, he faulted the central government for not reducing the prices of petrol and diesel even though the prices of crude oil has come down.

Rahman also noted that the central government is working with a divisive agenda and said that India should be strengthened and not divided on communal lines.
