Renovated 'Hotel Tamil Nadu' chains will bring in more revenue - State Tourism Minister Mathiventhan

Inaugurating the renovated restaurant at the Tamil Nadu Hotel in Gandhipuram, Minister Mathiventhan said that a Tamil Nadu International Balloon Festival (TIBF) ,a hot -air balloon festival will be organised at Achipatti near Pollachi between January 13-15 by TTDC.



Coimbatore: State Tourism Minister Mathiventhan said Tamil Nadu International Balloon Festival (TIBF), a hot -air balloon festival will be organized at Achipatti near Pollachi for the first ever time in the state between January 13-15 coinciding with the Pongal festival.



Tourism Minister Mathiventhan, who earlier inaugurated a renovated restaurant at Hotel Tamil Nadu in Gandhipuram in Coimbatore district, while briefing media persons said on the orders of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, various tourism amenities including various Hotel Tamil Nadu chains, run by TTDC in tourism spots are getting renovated.

In the first phase, the restaurant in Hotel Tamil Nadu is being renovated in the Island grounds, Chennai and the restaurants at Coimbatore, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli and Ranipet districts also also getting spruced up.

While noting that steps have been taken to introduce new cuisines in TTDC restaurants in Hotel Tamil Nadu, the minister said and noted "that this will make the brand compete with other private hotels. This will help the State-owned Hotel Tamil Nadu increase its brand visibility, and to attract more revenue".

"For the first ever time, we have introduced the tourism site development scheme on the orders of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, through which we have selected 10 to 15 locations and are upgrading various tourism amenities and facilities in places such as Kollimalai, Javvadhu hills, Yelagiri, Poondi lake and Poompuhar.

"So far, the hot air balloon festival had been held on behalf of the private sector. It is for the first-ever time that the Government of Tamil Nadu is holding one such at Achipatti near Pollachi between January 13 to 15" the minister noted.

"We are inspecting the place selected for the hot- air balloon festival today. Arrangements have been made for to conduct musical performances during the balloon festival" Mathiventhan said.
