Coimbatore: Public Works Minister A V Velu and Electricity Minister Senthil Balaji are inspecting various parts of Coimbatore district.

Speaking to reporters after the inspection, PWD Minister E V Velu said that “the construction of a new building for the construction of six floors at the Government Medical College Hospital in Coimbatore with the financial assistance of JICA is underway.

The work is progressing at a fast pace as planned to complete the construction in a time-bound manner. The work will be completed by March 2023.

The construction work has been completed and the next phase of plastering work is in progress. The building will be opened by the hands of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. A separate area is constructed for the burn. 8 operation theatres and 2 mini operation theatres are being constructed.

Similarly, tar roads will be constructed throughout the hospital through the chief minister's attention to prevent rainwater logging during the rainy season. Land acquisition is essential on behalf of the government whether it is constructing new roads towards development or widening of roads.

If land acquisition means constructing a road for whom. We are constructing a bypass to decongest the city area. Land has to be acquired for the implementation of government projects.

Similarly, steps will be taken to hold talks with farmers to implement government schemes and set up the scheme.”

Replying to a question on the protest against the setting up of a farmers' industrial park at Annur, Minister E V Velu said it would be brought to the notice of Thangam Thennarasu, the Minister of that department.
