Nursing College students in Eachanari boycott classes over false promises of certification by college authorities

Students of Sree Abirami College of Nursing have been boycotting classes for the past three days, alleging that they were cheated by the college authorities on the pretext of having a quality certificate.

Coimbatore: Sree Abirami College of Nursing located in Eachanari, in Coimbatore, offers various B.Sc. Nursing courses. In the last three years, the General Nursing and Nursing course has been offered as a new course. While students from Kerala and Tamil Nadu are studying in the nursing college, a majority of students hail from Kerala.

It has been reported that the college administration has not issued a certificate of eligibility to go abroad for students who have completed General Nursing and Nursing course in the college. During investigation, it was found that the college did not posses a quality certification required for students to go abroad.

Shocked by the turn of events, the students alleged that they were cheated and enrolled in the college based on the promise of being given the certification that qualifies them to go abroad after completion of studies. Moreover, those who joined the course in the current academic year are protesting for the return of their fee and certificates.

The students who have been boycotting classes for the last four days, have also lodged a complaint with the Health Department and Madukkarai police. However, since no action was taken, the students of Sree Abirami College of Nursing arrived at the Coimbatore District Collectorate to submit a petition.

The students, who have been protesting for the past three days, have demanded that immediate action be taken on their petition to ensure the college management returns the certificate fee and also pay compensation.
