MP P R Natarajan and alliance parties staged a protest against the central government's decision to cancel the fertilizer production licence of The Thudiyalur Co-Operative Agricultural Services Limited.
Coimbatore: The Thudiyalur Co-operative Agricultural Services Limited was established in 1955 at Thudiyalur in Coimbatore and produced various fertilizers required by farmers.
With 13 revenue villages and 56 hamlets as operational boundaries, it was selling fertilizers at low prices through primary agricultural cooperative societies across Tamil Nadu.

The protest was held against the centre's decision to cancel the fertiliser production licence of Ducas, Asia's largest agricultural cooperative society, which supplies fertilizers to lakhs of farmers.
M Mohanraj, secretary of the CPI(M)'s Periyanaickenpalayam union, led the protest in front of thudiyalur bus stand. Cpi(M) Coimbatore MP P R Natarajan and CPM Coimbatore district secretary C Padmanabhan participated in the protest.
More than 50 people, including farmers' union district secretary V R Palaniswami, CPM workers, Congress, Communist Party of India, MDMK and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi participated in the protest and raised slogans against the BJP government.
