The forest department has warned motorists to drive carefully due to incidents of wild elephants blocking the way on the Geddai Ghat road.
The Nilgiris: There is a dense forest around the third alternative route from the Nilgiris district to Coimbatore via Manjoor, Geddai and Karamadai. Herds of elephants have reportedly migrated to this forest area in large numbers in the last few days.
Such herds of elephants are frequently camping on the Geddai Ghat route, affecting traffic and scaring motorists.
In this situation, a government bus going from Manjoor to Coimbatore was blocked by a herd of elephants and stopped in the middle of the road for a long time.
Alarmed by the elephants, the bus driver immediately stopped the bus at the same spot. Half an hour later, the government bus left for Coimbatore after the herd of elephants veered off the road.
A video of elephants blocking a government bus has now gone viral on social media.
In this situation, the forest department has warned the motorists passing through the Geddai Ghat road to drive their vehicles carefully.
