Tiger hunts down cow near erstwhile HPF premises in Ooty leaving locals panic-stricken

According to officials, locals filmed the tiger with the carcass of a cow on the outskirts of Ooty and the video had gone viral, leaving local residents in a state of panic.

The Nilgiris: A tiger hunted down a cow in the OCS Colony area near the erstwhile Hindustan Photo Film factory premises in Ooty, in the Nilgiris district.

The viral video of a tiger waiting for its prey and hunting a cow down and gorging on it has left locals in the area in a state of panic. They have demanded that the Forest Department take immediate action to trap the tiger.

Forest officials believe that the sighting of the tiger indicates that the endangered species continues to thrive in the Nilgiris. The majestic species which once used to populate forest areas are now bordering human habitations.
