Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin lauds 58 police personnel for performing well in the Coimbatore car blast case

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin presented certificates of appreciation to the police personnel in connection with the Coimbatore car blast scare.


Coimbatore: Acting swiftly after a car cylinder exploded in the area under Ukkadam police station limits in Coimbatore city in the wee hours of October 23, the police swung into action to ensure that no traces were tampered with.

When Jamesha Mubin saw the police patrolling the area in the early hours of the morning of the incident, he was unable to continue to drive through the area.

Following this, the cylinder of the car exploded on the spot, killing him. Due to the intensive investigation that followed and the vigilance of the police, a major untoward incident has been averted in Coimbatore city.

Attempts by a few persons to create tension with ulterior motives were thwarted by the police due to special measures. The situation in Coimbatore was handled effectively in the run-up to Deepavali festival so that the normalcy of commercial establishments and the general public was not affected.

Within 12 hours of the incident, the investigation was concluded by special forces and 148 clues were collected, explosives were seized and five persons were arrested on 24.10.2022 in connection with the incident.

The next day, the sixth person was also arrested.

Proceedings under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act were also initiated the next day. The work of the Tamil Nadu Police, who work day and night tirelessly and selflessly, was highly appreciated.

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presented commendation certificates to 14 police personnel as a token of felicitation to 58 police officers and police personnel, including Coimbatore City Police Commissioner V. Balakrishnan, to felicitate the police personnel for their dedicated service and to maintain social peace.

Chief Secretary Iraiyanbu, DGP sylendra babu and senior police officials were present on the occasion.
