TN Teachers' Advancement Association urges CM M K Stalin to declare day after Diwali as public holiday

The members of the Association felt that there will be heavy traffic jams due to people leaving the day after Diwali and hence they requested the Chief Minister to declare October 25, the day after Diwali, as a public holiday.


Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Teachers' Advancement Association has requested Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M K Stalin to declare the day after Diwali as a public holiday.

In a letter to the Chief Minister M K Stalin, K Thyagarajan, the President of the Teachers' Progressive Association said, "During Diwali which is celebrated by various sections of the society in Tamil Nadu on Monday, October 24 this year, people from all walks of life will travel from Chennai to other places, as well as from outside to Chennai for this celebration. I thank the Transport Department for announcing various special buses as per your guidance to travel smoothly and without crowding. But there is a possibility of a huge traffic jam during this time when everyone returns to their respective places once again after the celebration. As the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, do help us by declaring Tuesday, October 25, the day after Diwali as a public holiday.
