Man gets life term for killing pregnant teen wife

The Coimbatore Mahila Court sentenced a 21-year-old youth to undergo life imprisonment for murdering his two-month pregnant wife about two years ago.

Mahaboob Ali and his wife, Neema, were both 19 years old when they got married in September 2014 in Kalimpong, West Bengal. They then relocated to Coimbatore.

It was a love marriage and the families of the bride and groom were against it. As a result, there were frequent quarrels between Ali and his wife. At one stage Ali had sought divorce from her.

On December 30, 2014, Ali called Neema to the retail showroom at Variety Hall Road, where he was working. He took her to the terrace, and stabbed and strangled her to death. He confessed to the murder to his relatives back home.

The Mahila Court judge gave him life imprisonment sentence and imposed a fine of Rs.5000.
