Coimbatore district police are doing a good job - DGP Sylendra Babu

Tamil Nadu DGP Sylendra Babu inaugurates cyber crime police station in Coimbatore. He also presented certificates of appreciation to the police personnel who had successfully investigated murder and honour killings.



Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu DGP Sylendra Babu today inaugurated the newly set up cyber crime police station at the Coimbatore city police commissioner's office. Following this, he inspected the Coimbatore City Police Control Room.

Later, he presented certificates of appreciation and incentives to special police personnel who handled crime cases in Coimbatore district effectively.

Later, addressing a press conference, he said “the Coimbatore police are doing a good job in Coimbatore district. They are investigating and working effectively on murders and extortion killings. Police personnel who have done well have been awarded certificates of appreciation.

There are 15 police stations in Coimbatore city to maintain law and order. In addition, 3 new police stations will be set up. At present, murder crimes have come down. There were 1,597 murders last year. This year, 1,368 cases of murder were registered, down 15 per cent. This is an indication that law and order is also going well.

Moreover, CCTV cameras have been installed in all the districts of Tamil Nadu at the cost of the government. CCTV cameras are also being installed in Chennai, Vellore, Thanjavur and Trichy districts under the Smart City project. In the modernization of the police force, we have now given the latest technologies in the police department.

Photos and videos of 75,000 criminals have been stored. We have put in place a software to ascertain the criminal background of the suspect based on the photograph of the person suspected by the police. This software can be used while patrolling and the culprits can also be traced using vehicles.
