Nilgiri Mountain Railway train service halted till Nov. 30 due to heavy rains

The Southern Railways has announced that the NMR train will not be operated until November 30 owing to heavy rains.


The Nilgiris: The Nilgiri Mountain Railway train service from Mettupalayam to Ooty will not be operated until November 30 according to the Southern Railways. The announcement has left tourists deeply disappointed.

On October 23, while the NMR train was going uphill from Mettupalayam to Ooty, boulders fallen on the NMR line owing to landslides caused due to heavy rains that had led to the train service being halted. The NMR train service had been called off until November 15 owing to repairs of the damaged rail tracks.

The Southern Railways has now announced that the NMR train service will not be operated until November 30, due to the incessant rains that continue in Nilgiris district.
