4,41,000 people had been vaccinated through the massive vaccination camp held in Coimbatore on Sundays for the last 4 weeks, of which the Coimbatore district had performed the best at the state level.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore District Collector Sameeran met reporters at the Coimbatore District Collectorate.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that 4,41,000 people had been vaccinated through the massive vaccination camp held in Coimbatore on Sundays for the last 4 weeks, of which the Coimbatore district had performed the best at the state level. In Coimbatore district, 25,63,212 people were vaccinated with the first dose and 9,22,200 were vaccinated with the second dose, while two lakh people did not even get the first dose.
He said that 1425 camps have been set up tomorrow and a huge vaccination camp is to be held and 2 lakh vaccines are in stock. In case of students coming from outside the states, admission to the Coimbatore district is allowed only if there is proof of payment of both installments or RTPCR negative certificate taken 72 hours ago.
He also said that RTPCR tests are conducted once a week for students in schools operating in hilly areas along the Kerala border. He also said that roadside residents are being vaccinated by a private charity for the mentally ill. He said the pandemic in Coimbatore district was not completely eradicated and urged the people to keep this in mind and celebrate the upcoming festivals safely.
He said the government had banned people from going to places of worship on festive days. He said the number of suicides due to debts and business vulnerability was high during the virus outbreak and an advisory center was functioning at the district collector's office to prevent it. He said the companies have been told to give people time to repay the loan at these stages.
