Kovai Kutralam reopens as rainfall decreases
Coimbatore: Kovai Kutralam reopens. Kovai Kutralam, a tourist destination located in Coimbatore, remained closed due to storms and monsoon rains and the coronavirus pandemic.
It was reopened 10 days ago and tourists were allowed. They were allowed after following various government measures such as heavy security, social distancing, and wearing a mask. Later permission was again denied due to continuous monsoon rains.
Kovai Kutralam was reopened yesterday. It rained on the night of the January 7th in the Western Ghats of Coimbatore which increased water supply at Kovai Kutralam Falls. Public were forbidden to go to the falls the next morning as the rain continued. The ban was lifted yesterday morning ahead of the Pongal festival and due to low rainfall.
Due to the heavy rains, the number of tourists has decreased. It is expected that more tourists will come to Kovai Kutralam for this Pongal festival.
