In Coimbatore, CCTV surveillance cameras are being installed across the city in collaboration with Police and volunteers to monitor crime and accidents across the city.
As part of this, Coimbatore Commissioner Sumit Sharan, speaking at the launch of the 85 CCTV surveillance cameras set up in the border areas of Coimbatore Kuniyamuthur Police Station today, said that, “10,000 CCTV surveillance cameras have been installed in Coimbatore so far and these cameras are a great help in detecting any accidents or crimes.”
In particular, he said the role of these CCTV cameras in protecting women and children was significant.
The event was attended by Law and Order Deputy Commissioner Stalin, Crime Division Deputy Commissioner Uma, Transport Deputy Commissioner Mutharasan and Assistant Commissioners, Police Inspectors and volunteers.
